LOC Group has won a contract with Cong ty Phan Dau Tu Dien Gio Hoa Binh1, part of Phuong Anh Group, to support the development of the Hoa Binh 1 offshore wind farm in Vietnam.
Under the agreement, LOC will provide marine warranty and consulting services.
It will also give guidance and recommendations to contractors on how best to meet project requirements and improve the quality of operations, including better risk management, through active risk assessment.
Hoa Binh 1 will comprise 13 turbines, creating up to 50MW of capacity.
Installation of the 13 turbines is tide dependent, with vessels potentially sitting on the mud floor during low tide. The turbines will be interconnected via a link bridge, negating the need for a transfer crew boat.
It is located in shallow waters close to shore, in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu.
The project will provide additional power to the national electricity system covering Bac Lieu and the southwest region of Vietnam.
LOC’s renewables team based in Singapore and Thailand will lead on the work, with support from group companies, Longitude and Innosea.
LOC Singapore project and business development director Donny Ng said: “Winning this contract reflects the company’s experience and understanding of the renewables market.
“It also mirrors our ever-growing presence in the South-East Asian renewables industry, post the recent opening of a further regional office in Taiwan”.
