The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) is seeking opinions on the draft tender conditions for its technology-neutral renewables auction scheduled for this year.
The agency has invited interested parties to submit written comments and questions on a proposal envisaging wave power and hydropower to be included in the tender process and compete together with wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies to supply green electricity at the lowest cost. This will be the third technology-neutral tender organised by DEA.
Comments are due by August 26, while responses to them will be published in September, DEA said last week.
As agreed in June, technology-neutral tenders in the country will continue in 2020 and 2021 but the support model will change to a contract for difference (CfD) mechanism. The maximum allowed tariff will be DKK 0.025 (USD 0.0038/EUR 0.0034) per kWh. This substitutes the current scheme that uses a fixed-price supplement on top of the electricity market price.
Denmark’s second technology-neutral tender, which was concluded in December 2019, attracted 271 MW of onshore wind and solar projects, with the weighted average price premium of the winning bids reaching as low as DKK 0.0154 per kWh.
