Goldwind Australia is to supply two turbines totalling 9MW to a hybrid energy project combining wind, solar and battery storage in Western Australia
The contract with Juwi is for the supply and installation of two GW155/4.5MW machines at the project in Esperance.
Goldwind will also deliver operations and maintenance for the turbines for 10 years under a separate agreement with Contract Power Australia, which will be selling the output from hybrid generation system to Horizon Power under a long-term power purchase agreement.
The project comprises the wind energy portion plus a 4MW solar farm, a lithium-ion battery and gas generators.
The electricity generated is expected to meet about half of Esperance’s annual demand.
Goldwind Australia managing director of John Titchen said: “We are very pleased to partner with Contract Power and Juwi to deliver the wind farm component of the Esperance hybrid project, the second renewable energy microgrid project that Goldwind is contributing to in Western Australia.
“The Esperance hybrid renewable energy project represents a great example of how to deliver competitive, low-emission electricity for our communities in Australia.”
