Chinese company Ouyang Offshore has awarded AqualisBraemar a contract to supervise to construction of two new self-propelled jack up vessels for the offshore wind sector.

AqualisBraemar’s on-site team at Jiangsu-based Dayang Offshore Equipment will monitor and supervise the construction of the two wind turbine installation vessels, called OuYang 003 and OuYang 004.

The AqualisBraemar team will ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the contract specifications plus flag and class requirements.

“Having previously supervised construction of the OuYang 001 and OuYang 002 wind turbine installation vessels, it is a huge vote of confidence to be engaged for OuYang 003 and OuYang 004 too,” said China country manager for AqualisBraemar Yongfei Peng.

The project will be managed from AqualisBraemar's office in Shanghai, China.

“As these are the third and fourth wind turbine installation vessels we are cooperating with OuYang Offshore and Dayang Offshore Equipment on, our joint objective is to deliver a safe and even more cost-effective construction process for the two new vessels,” Peng added.

Both new jack-ups are identical vessels measuring 75.6 metres in length, 40 metres in beam and 7 metres in depth.

They feature four hydraulic pin legs which will enable them to work in water depths of up to 50 metres and have accommodation for up to 68 persons.

Each vessel is equipped with a 600MT leg-encircling crane with a lifting height of 140 metres from sea level.
