02 Sep 2020  by RE News

Vasa Vind will begin construction of the 60MW Raftsjohojden wind farm in Sweden during the third quarter of 2020.

Vasa Vind, together with APG and Asper Investment Management, is building the wind farm in the municipality of Stromsund, Jamtland county.

The wind farm is expected to enter commercial operation during the second half of 2021.

The project will use eleven Cypress wind turbines from GE Renewable Energy.

Vasa Vind will be responsible for construction management and will during operations handle the technical and financial management.

Raftsjohojden is the third phase of a 400MW wind cluster Vasa Vind is building in the region.

Vasa Wind senior business development manager Patrik Idvall said: “We are very happy that we are now starting the construction of Raftsjohojden wind farm despite a challenging market.

“Favourable characteristics of the project and constant optimisation have been important success factors. We are also delighted to expand our relationship with GE on this project.”

The Cypress turbines will have a rotor diameter of 158 metres and a 5.5MW generator.

Eight turbines will have a hub height of 141 metres while the three others will be 121 metres high.

Stenger & Ibsen Construction will be responsible for the construction of all other infrastructure on site.
