Nabha Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of L&T Power Development, won two prestigious awards at the 21st National Award Ceremony for Excellence in Energy Management, hosted by CII recently.
Nabha Power Limited was adjudged as the National Energy Leader 2020 for its progressive performance for the second consecutive year in Energy Management.
Nabha Power also received the Excellent Energy Efficiency Unit award for outstanding achievements in Energy Efficiency. The plant received this award for the fourth consecutive year.
Speaking on this achievement, Mr. D. K. Sen, Sr. Vice President and Whole-time Director, L&T said, “The CII awards are a testimony of L&T’s capabilities in building and operating world class infrastructure facilities. We are proud to have served people of Punjab by providing consistent, cost-effective power and have won several such accolades over the years”
It is not the first time that plant has been recognised at such a prestigious stage. In past also, it has won Best IPP award for 3 consecutive years, High Efficiency and Sustainability Leadership award by Peabody, USA, National Energy Conservation Award, BEE, MoP -GoI award.
L&T owns and operates 2x700 MW Nabha Power Plant in Rajpura, Punjab. The plant is based on Supercritical Japanese technology and was commissioned in February 2014. It has received several Global & National awards over the last 6 years of operations.
Nabha Power has supplied ~48,000 MU to PSPCL and has been one of the highest contributors to the State of Punjab at the average PLF of 73 per cent beating the national average of 55 per cent by a huge margin. It remains at the top of the merit order among the thermal plants within the State because of its quoted Heat Rate of 2268 Kcal/KWh and one of the cheapest variable cost of power 2.91 Rs/Unit despite being located at a distance of 1500 Kms from the mine source.
