Hanwha Q CELLS was ranked first in the U.S. solar energy module market in the first half of 2020.Hanwha Q CELLS topped the U.S. residential solar module market for the eighth consecutive quarter with a 22 percent share in the first half of 2020, according to a recent survey released by Wood Mackenzie, a global energy consulting firm.
The company posted a 21.5 percent share in the U.S. commercial solar module market in the first half, up 8.4 percentage points from the annual market share recorded in 2019, keeping its number one position in the market. Solar module installations in the U.S. commercial market reached 2GW in 2019. In the years to come, this level of solar module installations is expected to be maintained in the commercial market.
The U.S. residential solar energy market grew 15 percent on year, with 2.8 GW facilities installed in 2019. The Californian state government has mandated the installation of solar energy systems in new houses since 2020. As a result, an additional solar module demand of 1GW or more is expected to come from new homes in California from 2020 to 2024.
