Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC, better known as Masdar, has been selected by domestic entertainment sector company Miral to build a 7-MWp rooftop solar park at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi on Yas Island.
A total of 16,000 solar modules will be installed on an area of 36,000 sq m, making it Abu Dhabi’s largest rooftop solar project to date, Masdar announced on Monday. It will be able to meet around 40% of the park's annual energy demand.
Masdar is in charge of the turnkey execution, including the design, procurement and construction of the photovoltaic (PV) plant, and operation and maintenance (O&M). The company expects operations to commence in the final quarter of 2021.
Masdar noted that this PV plant will make Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi the largest solar-powered theme park in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The International Renewable Energy Agency’s REmap 2030 report says rooftop solar could provide 6% of the country's total electricity generation by 2030.
