Lukoil has finished reconstruction work on the hydraulic structures at the Krasnopolyanskaya hydropower complex in the Krasnodar region, Russia, increasing the volume of water that flows to the daily regulating pond from the mountain river of Beshenka.
The project is the first of its kind for Lukoil, and will contribute to increasing the share of renewables in the company's energy balance by augmenting power generation at its hydropower plants.
Lukoil operates a large portfolio of generation facilities, with its main renewable assets including four hydropower plants in Russia with a total capacity of 291MW, the Land Power wind farm in Romania (84MW), and solar power plants in Russia, Romania and Bulgaria (with aggregate capacity exceeding 20 MW).
The Krasnopolyanskaya hydropower complex includes two hydropower plants: the 22MW Krasnoployanskaya and the recently renovated 1.5MW hydropower plant on the Beshenka River .
