Asonha Energie and Gabon Seal Deal for the Construction of the Kinguélé Aval Dam

Construction work on the Kinguélé Aval hydroelectric dam (35 MW) will begin in Gabon, before the end of 2020. The Asonha Energie joint venture and the executive concluded the key contract on Tuesday. hand for the erection of this infrastructure, at a cost of 80 billion FCFA.

The Kinguélé Aval hydroelectric dam construction project, with a capacity of 35 MW, took a new step on Tuesday, October 27. And for good reason, Asonha Energie, a joint venture co-owned by the Gabonese Strategic Investments Fund (FGIS) and Meridiam, a French private equity firm specializing in infrastructure, signed today with the Gabonese State, a key contract in hand for the development of this dam with an annual energy production capacity of 200 GWh.

According to the Le Nouveau Gabon website , this new stage in the materialization of this project will be characterized by the launch, before the end of the current year, of construction work on this infrastructure with a first commissioning scheduled for 2023. .

According to FGIS, this construction contract follows a concession clause signed between the Gabonese State and the company Asonha Energie on October 24, 2019, for the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of this barrage.

At an estimated cost of CFAF 80 billion, the Kinguélé Aval dam will enable the “ Gabon Energy and Water Company (SEEG) to optimize the production and supply of energy in the region. This public-private partnership will order goods and services from Gabonese companies, thus supporting economic recovery. The Kinguélé Aval project will create more than 700 jobs and will play a major role in the electrification of rural areas such as Andock Foula, contributing to social inclusion in Gabon ”, supports FGIS.

Built by the Chinese Sinohydro, the Kinguélé-Aval hydroelectric dam will be located in the Mbei region , downstream from the existing Tchimbele and Kinguélé power stations, 90 kilometers from Libreville.
