Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI) has become one of the first companies to receive approval from the United States Department of Transportation (DoT) for its hydrogen cylinder tank, created for its hydrogen-powered drone solution.
With approval from the DoT, DMI is now able to establish a nationwide hydrogen distribution network for its hydrogen fuel cell-powered drone solution in the US.
To do this, the company has partnered with ReadyH2, a Texas-based company specialising in compressed hydrogen gas distribution networks.
DMI has partnered with ILJIN Composites to manufacture the hydrogen cylinders for its hydrogen powered drone.
ILJIN is a leader of high-tech composite material products and provides Hyundai Motors with hydrogen cylinders created with the same technology as DMI’s hydrogen cylinder.
DMI said all cylinders have passed numerous safety tests conducted by an authorised testing agency.
These tests include but are not limited to pressurised tests, fire tests and even gunshot penetrations tests.
Doosoon Lee, CEO of Doosan Mobility Innovation, said, “This will be one of the most significant footmarks, which can unlock the door entering into hydrogen mobility industries, since it enables hydrogen fuelled products like DMI’s drones to be widely used in the world.”
