According to the latest statistics, on October 13, the cumulative electricity transmitted from Xinjiang power grid reached 53.459 TWh, creating 11.023 billion yuan of direct economic benefits for Xinjiang, and increasing tax revenue by about 1.6 billion yuan. This year, the government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region signed power transmission agreements with 14 provinces and the agreed power has reached 22.9 TWh, 16% of the total from Xinjiang.?
Outbound electricity transmission is among the specific measures to support the industrial development in Xinjiang. The region is rich in energy resources, but due to the distance from the load center in the central and eastern part of China and the limited electricity consumption in Xinjiang, the surplus electricity could not be effectively accommodated. In light of the fact, Xinjiang government signed power transmission agreements with 7 provinces in 2016, when the power delivered to other provinces was only 3 TWh.
In order to increase consumption of power from Xinjiang, State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Company has actively assisted local government to negotiate with other provincial power companies and determine the annual transmission scale, electricity price, and dispatching plan. Besides facilitating transmission agreements, State Grid also greatly improves Xinjiang's transmission capacity. Xinjiang Electric Power Company has built four UHV channels to other provinces with a transmission capacity of 20 GW, and has increased investment in technology and equipment for better operation and maintenance. In the third quarter of this year, power transmitted from Xinjiang per month exceeded 10 TWh for three consecutive months to a record high.
Xinjiang Electric Power Company has explored new trading modes underpinned by the power pool in northwest Xinjiang to stimulate the consumption of renewable energy and ensure the delivery of the agreed power. With coordinated moves and priority over outbound transmission, State Grid has realized full consumption of Xinjiang's electricity.
