Rolls-Royce has signed a contract for the delivery of safety-critical Bibloc® pressure transmitters to the UK's new Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant.
Two EPR nuclear reactors are under construction at Hinkley Point C — the first nucelar power station to be built in the UK for more than 20 years.
Under the contract, Rolls-Royce will provide 140 safety classified (K1) Bibloc® pressure transmitters, which will be used to "perform flow, level and pressure measurements of the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS)." They are qualified for 60 years of operation.
The components will be manufactured by Rolls-Royce's I&C teams in Grenoble, France.
“We are delighted to be a part of the Hinkley Point C project. We will contribute to ensure the nuclear safety of the reactors, which will generate safe, reliable and low-carbon electricity for 60 years. This contract is further proof of the excellence of our Bibloc® technology and of the specific expertise of our teams,” said Robert Sommacal, Rolls-Royce Civil Nuclear France, business unit director.
