Global accounting and consulting firm EY recently released the Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI) report for the second half of this year.
South Korea took the 13th place among the 40 countries covered by the report. The biannual report, which has been published since 2003, is to assess renewable energy business opportunities, investment conditions, and so on by country.
In that report, South Korea rose from 20th to 17th in the first half of this year after having stood at 31st in the second half of 2018.
In the second half of this year, South Korea scored 56.9 and the United States topped the list with 70.2. China, Australia, Denmark and Ireland came in second, third, 12th and 14th, respectively.
“With the South Korean government planning to launch Green New Deal projects, investors will be particularly attracted to the offshore wind power industry of South Korea,” EY said in the report, adding, “Across the world, the use of new technologies such as hydrogen energy and artificial intelligence will play a crucial role in trying to achieve carbon neutrality.”
