Air Liquide China has been recognised for its contributions to develop China’s hydrogen energy value chain.
The industrial gases company on Wednesday (9th Dec) won the 2020 Sustainable Development Outstanding Contribution Award at the Innovation and Sustainable Development Forum, organised by Shanghai Daily.
Nicolas Poirot, President and CEO of Air Liquide China, said, “Tackling climate change is the core mission of Air Liquide. We are developing a series of solutions.”
“These projects reflect the group’s climate goal, which is to reduce the carbon intensity of its business and work together with customers for a more sustainable industry and a lower-carbon society.”
“We are honoured to receive the Outstanding Contribution Award for Sustainable Development issued by the Shanghai Daily, which again recognises our contribution to a low-carbon society.”
Hydrogen activity
In 2019, Air Liquide and Chengdu Huaqi Houpu Holding created joint venture Air Liquide Houpu Hydrogen Equipment to develop, produce and distribute hydrogen stations for fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).
Air Liquide Houpu has since deployed many hydrogen stations in cities across China, and is contracted to build a number of important stations in other regions, actively creating a hydrogen station network.
At the end of this year, Air Liquide Houpu wil complete the supply, installation and commissioning of a full set of hydrogenation equipment for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in Zhangjiakou.
The hydrogen station is located in Zhangjiakou Economic Development Zone and is one of the first batch of key projects in the hydrogen energy industry for the Winter Olympics.
After completion, the station will have a daily hydrogen refuelling capacity of 1,000kg/day, which can provide services for 2,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles operating during the Winter Olympics.
With the promulgation of China’s energy-saving and new energy vehicle technology roadmap 2.0, FCEV city cluster demonstration projects have become increasingly clear, and the country will further strengthen the development of a low-carbon sustainable automobile industry.
Air Liquide said it will continue to invest heavily in the development and construction of hydrogen refuelling station projects.
The company said it will also pay more attention to the progress of hydrogen energy transportation and low-carbon industrial hydrogen, and accelerate the current key areas such as the Yangtze River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Greater Bay Area and Sichuan.
