Once completed, it would produce electricity for over 1 million households.
The planned Tongyeong combined cycle power plant in South Korea would receive more than 1 GW of power generation equipment from natural gas power technology, services, and solutions provider GE Gas Power.
GE would supply the project with two 7HA.02 gas turbines, one STF-D600 steam turbine, two Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG), and three H65 generators, a statement read. GE has also signed an 18-year service agreement to provide maintenance services for aforementioned equipment.
Once completed, the new plant would provide electricity needed to power over a million Korean households.
To be located at Anjeong Industrial Park in Tongyeong City, the new plant’s construction has been slated to begin this year. Hanwha Engineering & Construction Co. would be in charge of its construction.
Commercial operations are expected to take off from 2024.
