Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) announced on Jan. 19 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with nine organizations to build a green hydrogen production cluster in Saemangeum, a tidal flat on the southwestern coast of South Korea.
The nine organizations include the North Jeolla Province Government, the Saemangeum Development and Investment Agency, the Gunsan City government, Jeonbuk Techno Park, Hyundai Rotem, and Doosan Heavy Industries.
They saw eye to eye on establishing Korea’s largest green hydrogen cluster in Saemangeum by tapping into its vast renewable energy production. The cluster will have facilities that produce, store, transport and utilize hydrogen.
"By establishing the green hydrogen production and support infrastructure in Saemangeum, we will help North Jeolla Province take center stage in the hydrogen economy," said Chung Jae-hoon, president of KHNP.
