Chinese photovoltaic company Trina Solar has launched a new business unit focused on energy storage.
The unit is targeting demand for standalone, solar-plus-storage as well as large Industrial and microgrid energy storage applications.
Trina said it will build upon its experience of working with independent power producers, developers and engineering, procurement and construction companies in the solar industry to deliver storage projects.
Trina Storage will offer “flexible and highly scalable storage solutions”.
The solutions consist of hardware, software and services based on lithium iron phosphate batteries and power conversion systems in a containerised solution with software and services like monitoring and support.
Trina Solar overseas storage business head Terry Chen said: “We will see exponential growth in the renewable energy industry in the next years as energy needs increase.
“Storage is the only solution that can support this transition effectively. Therefore, customers need a trusted storage supplier with a profound knowledge of the energy industry.”
