Capital Energy Advances in its Second Wind Farm in Cantabria, Ribota

This renewable wind energy facility, located in the municipalities of San Roque de Riomiera, Selaya, Villacarriedo, Saro, Arredondo, Miera, Riotuerto, Entrambasaguas and Solórzano, will have an installed power of 51 megawatts (MW) and its development will involve investment of around 36 million euros.

The 12 wind turbines of this second Capital Energy wind farm in Cantabria will be capable of supplying clean energy to more than 56,000 homes and will prevent the emission of some 54,300 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere per year.

The construction of Ribota will lead to the creation of some 295 jobs and will have an annual economic impact on local coffers, as well as through leasing contracts, of around 266,500 euros.

Capital Energy, a Spanish energy company founded in 2002 and whose vocation is to become the first 100% vertically integrated renewable operator in the Iberian Peninsula, continues to take relevant steps to strengthen the development of its clean energy project in Cantabria.

The Industry and Energy Area of ??the Government Delegation in Cantabria has announced that it is submitting to public information the request for prior administrative authorization of its second wind farm in the community: Ribota. This renewable facility will have an installed power of 51 megawatts (MW) and will involve an investment of around 36 million euros.

The 12 wind turbines of this Cantabrian installation of Capital Energy, which will share the electricity evacuation infrastructures with the Garma Blanca park, also owned by the company, will be capable of supplying clean energy to more than 56,000 homes and will prevent the emission into the atmosphere of about 54,300 tons of CO2 per year.

The Ribota wind farm, located in the municipalities of San Roque de Riomiera, Selaya, Villacarriedo, Saro, Arredondo, Miera, Riotuerto, Entrambasaguas and Solórzano, will also promote the creation of some 295 jobs during its construction phase -10 in the construction phase. operation- and will have an annual economic impact on local coffers (IBI and IAE), as well as through leasing contracts, of around 266,500 euros. To this recurring amount is added the one-off payment of the ICIO, which will amount to 1.25 million euros, as well as another single payment for rights of way that amounts to more than 438,000 euros.

Recently, the Industry and Energy Area of ??the Government Delegation in Cantabria has also submitted to public information the company’s first wind farm in this autonomous community, Garma Blanca, an installation that will, in turn, have an installed power of 51 MW.

Capital Energy currently has 17 renewable energy projects in Cantabria, all of them wind power. They have a combined capacity of almost 690 MW and their development will involve a global investment of approximately 650 million euros.

Around 38 GW of project portfolio in the Iberian Peninsula

In line with its commitment to the ecological and fair energy transition, Capital Energy currently has a portfolio of wind and solar projects in Spain and Portugal of around 38 gigawatts (GW) of power, of which more than 8.5 GW already have the network access permissions granted.

Thanks to the launch of its marketer, in the last quarter of 2020, Capital Energy has completed its strategic objective of being present throughout the entire renewable generation value chain: from promotion, where the company has a consolidated position given its trajectory of almost 20 years, until the construction, production, storage, operation and supply.

The objective of the company, which has grown from 30 people to more than 350 in the last three years, distributed throughout 14 offices in Spain and Portugal, is to bring to the end consumer the 100% renewable energy that it is already producing in its own facilities.
