According to news from the Press Center of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan recently reached an agreement on power swaps. The two sides will supply each other with 750 million kilowatt-hours of electricity at a certain price.
From October 2021 to March 2022, Uzbekistan will supply Kyrgyzstan, and from June to August from 2021 to 2023, Kyrgyzstan will supply Uzbekistan with the above-mentioned scale of electricity. The main purpose of the power swap between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan is to increase the water storage capacity of the Toktogul Reservoir in Kyrgyzstan to ensure Uzbekistan's irrigation water during the crop growth period from 2021 to 2023.
