Shell has acquired Vattenfall’s 50% share in the 108MW Egmond aan Zee offshore wind farm, one of the first to be built.
Following the transaction Shell is the 100% owner of NoordzeeWind that manages the asset.
Vattenfall head of asset management Kasper Simonsen said: "The lessons we have learned from the first Dutch offshore wind farm can be applied in the construction of Hollandse Kust Zuid and other future offshore wind farms.
“The sale enables Vattenfall to focus even more on the development of our new projects."
Hessel de Jong, managing director offshore wind Europe at Shell, added: "Offshore wind plays an important role in the energy transition. We have already learned a lot from the construction of this first Dutch offshore wind farm and I am pleased that we continue to make our contribution to the energy transition in this way.
“And with the Egmond aan Zee offshore wind farm, we can also gain valuable experience for operating an offshore wind farm in a dynamic energy market."
