RWE Renewables has contracted Wartsila Corp (HEL:WRT1V) to supply an engineered equipment delivery (EEQ) of a 40-MW/80-MWh DC-coupled solar-plus-storage system to a project in the US state of Georgia.
The Finnish technology group will deliver a system that allows project company Hickory Park Solar LLC to sell almost 200 MW of output from solar panels at the site to local electric utility Georgia Power Company.
As part of the project, Wartsila will deploy its GridSolv Quantum energy storage system and use the GEMS Digital Energy Platform to control the entire hybrid plant. Hickory Park Solar will be able to provide its customer with a day-ahead firming solar-plus-storage profile through Wartsila’s IntelliBidder auto-bidding solution.
The equipment will be delivered in September 2021, while the plant itself is expected to be completed in November.
