The Japanese government has reportedly all but finalized a decision to release radioactive water into the ocean from the Fukushima nuclear plant... despite continued opposition from local fishermen... and opposition globally. Citing sources with knowledge of the matter,... that the government will make the plan official at a meeting of related officials as soon as next Tuesday. Under the plan, the contaminated water would be released gradually into the ocean after diluting it enough to be harmless to the human body. A huge amount of contaminated water has been building up at the site of the Fukushima nuclear plant, stored in giant tanks, since the earthquake and tsunami in 2011.
