Juwi has installed the first solar modules at a 204MW photovoltaic project in northern Greece.
The Kozani solar park, requiring €136m in investment, is scheduled to be connected to the grid by February 2022.
It will then be handed over to the future operator Hellenic Petroleum Group.
Kozani is the largest in Europe to use bifacial modules, designed to capture more sunlight.
Juwi said the 450 hectare project site now includes all racks and frames.
Juwi Hellas managing director Takis Sarris said: “Despite the Covid pandemic and restrictions on the construction site we are still on schedule.”
Using bifacial modules in the Kozani solar park will increase the yield by up to 5%.
Sarris added: “Solar energy is already the cheapest form of electricity generation in Greece.
“The technology with bifacial modules reinforces this development again. In this way, we can generate more electricity in less space at even lower costs."
Kozani is located 120 km of south-west of Thessaloniki in the north of Greece.
