Vestas, through its US development arm, has sold a 118MW wind farm to Southern Power.
Southern Power acquired the Glass Sands wind facility in Oklahoma from Vestas’ Steelhead Americas business, headquartered in Portland, Oregon.
Steelhead Americas took the project through permitting, interconnection, origination of offtake and arrangement of an engineering, procurement and construction provider.
Vestas will provide long-term service for the project for 20 years.
The turbine order was declared firm and unconditional in 2020.
Vestas’ wholly owned development subsidiary has a development and co-development pipeline of over 3GW of wind energy projects.
“We’re pleased to see the full range of Vestas sustainable energy solutions displayed with the sale of the Glass Sands project,” said Vestas Americas development vice president Chris Rogers.
“From development to technology, to operations, we’ve deployed our expertise across the energy value chain to bring clean, reliable, and renewable wind energy to our communities and partners.”
