SK Engineering & Construction (SK E&C) announced on April 22 that it has registered two Programs of Activities (PoA) based on renewable energy projects in Vietnam and Korea.
SK E&C has registered a renewable energy generation project to be carried out in Vietnam as a Program of Activities under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). SK E&C has become the first construction company in Korea to register a PoA under the CDM.
The UNFCCC's CDM is part of a greenhouse gas emissions reduction plan through which a company can receive carbon credits from the U.N. in proportion to the company’s implementation of greenhouse gas reduction projects.
The company also registered a renewable energy generation project in Korea with the Ministry of Environment. The project also gives the company carbon credits that can be used in Korea.
