The 104MW wind farm, located in Colorado, has 20 wind turbines with 4.3MW capacity and five 3.6MW capacity turbines.
The company claims that the turbines at this facility are among the most advanced turbines installed in the area to date.
Crossing Trails will generate enough clean energy to power almost 45,000 homes in Colorado a year.
Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, a non-profit electricity supply cooperative, will purchase all of the energy generated by the wind facility under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). The cooperative is the project’s sole off-taker.
Crossing Trails is expected to generate $12m for local governments and more than $20m to landowners over the course of its life cycle.
With the project’s commissioning, EDPR has operational wind farms across 17 states in the US.
As of the end of the first quarter of this year, EDPR has 6,495MW of total installed capacity in the US.
The company aims to further expand its presence in the country through new PPAs that reinforce its profile as well as growth strategy.
EDPR’s latest project is part of its commitment to the energy transition and plans for the development of a capex plan of around €19bn.
By 2025, the company aims to deploy around 20GW of renewable energy.
Last month, EDPR agreed to divest a 55% equity stake in two wind farms in Illinois to investment firm Greencoat Capital.
The Bright Stalk and Harvest Ridge wind farms have a combined capacity of 405MW.
Bright Stalk has been operational since 2019, while Harvest Ridge entered its operational phase last year.
The deal has an enterprise value of $720m, equivalent to $1.8m for each MW generated by the farms.
