Engineering company Clarke Energy and gas engine manufacturer INNIO Jenbacher have partnered on the construction of a combined heat and power (CHP) project in the Cameroonian province of Doula.
The CHP project is being deployed in two phases with the first stage comprising the installation of a natural gas-fuelled engine, to power a new pasta factory. The first phase has been completed and the containerized J320 engine commissioned to provide a resilient on-site power supply to the manufacturing facility. The gas engine will have an output of 1067KW.
In the second phase, an exhaust gas heat exchanger to recover the waste heat from hot exhaust gases to generate superheated water at 130°C, will be installed. The heat/superheated water will then be injected into the customer’s process steamer for purification
Clarke Energy has secured two more contracts to construct similar projects in Cameroon by the third quarter of 2021.
The project is expected to help the manufacturing company to reduce its operational costs incurred from energy usage.
