Hyosung Heavy Industries and Linde Korea held a groundbreaking ceremony for a liquefied hydrogen plant at Hyosung Chemical’s Yongyeon Plant in Ulsan on June 21.
On hand were Hyosung Group chairman Cho Hyun-joon, Linde Korea chairman Sung Baek-seok, Ulsan City Mayor Song Chul-ho, Vice Trade Minister Park Jin-kyu, Hyosung Group vice chairman Cho Hyun-sang.
During the ceremony, Hyosung and Linde declared their shared vision of building a carbon-neutral Korea through hydrogen application technology.
Linde Hydrogen Energy, a joint venture between Hyosung and Linde, plans to build a 13,000-ton liquefied hydrogen plant in Ulsan and operate it starting from May 2023. It will become the largest plant of its kind in the world when completed.
Separately, Hyosung Heavy Industries said it will invest one trillion won over the next five years to increase its liquefied hydrogen production capacity to 39,000 tons.
