Hyundai Places Hydrogen Station Order to Support Xcient Trucks in New Zealand

Hyundai New Zealand is prepping for the arrival of its Xcient fuel cell trucks in New Zealand, having today (July 1) placed an order for a new hydrogen refuelling station.

Placed with H2H Energy, the order consists of a 350-bar containerised refuelling station that will allow fleet users to experience the advantages of hydrogen.

Commenting on the announcement, Andy Sinclair, General Manager at Hyundai New Zealand, said, “Hydrogen energy is the key to building a more sustainable society. It’s the ideal fuel source for the heavy transport industry to help reduce carbon emissions.

“We are really excited about the arrival of the Xcient truck. However, as there won’t be nationwide infrastructure at that time, we’ve chosen to modify our existing refueller to be capable of refuelling at 350-bar for the Xcient and 700-bar for the Nexo.”

Hyundai’s order follows on from it earlier this year securing funding from the Low Emission Vehicles Contestable Fund for the introduction of its hydrogen-powered trucks in the country.

Welcoming Hyundai, and it’s hydrogen trucks, to New Zealand, Cranston Polson, CEO of H2H Energy, said, “We are proud to continue supporting Hyundai New Zealand in their hydrogen endeavours.

“They are leading from the front, providing real, practical and manageable solutions, in alignment with the H2H philosophy.”
