India set ambitious goal for solar and win expansion in 2022, goals it probably will not meet, according to Wodd MacKenzie research.
One problem is infrastructure. Adding lots of megawatts of wind and solar will not change much without grid and transmission expansions/upgrades. In addition, power auctions resulted in wind prices being cut in half in 2018, so lenders are now questioning the viability of India's wind projects.
The renewable push seems to have the support of the current government but must clear these hurdles. What is your impression of the energy market in India?
