Japanese renewables developer, Pacifico Energy, breaks ground for the 121-megawatt (MW) solar farm in Japan.
Located at Sanda City in Hyogo prefecture, this project will be mainly constructed on the site of a golf course. Its commercial operations are expected to start in 2023.
According to a report in Renewables Now, this solar farm, which was installed in Sanda City, is expected to be capable of producing around 143 million kilowatts/hour of electricity per year and mitigate 115,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions for 18 years.
The report further said that Juwi Shizen Energy Inc. will act as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor. While financing was provided by MUFG Bank Ltd. and Mitsubishi HC Capital Inc. with Baker McKenzie acting as legal counsel to Pacifico Energy.
Renews Biz also reported that Pacifico Energy has now commenced construction of 15 solar power plants throughout Japan totalling 1293 MW.
Eleven of the projects, with a combined capacity of 930 MW, have been completed and are now in commercial operation, the report said.
