Experts of the nuclear insurance pool of Russia, Great Britain and Luxembourg highly appreciated the level of operational safety of the Kola nuclear power plant. The inspectors checked the nuclear safety, operation, fire protection of the enterprise, inspected the production sites of four power units of the Kola NPP, assessed the level of professional training of staff on the basis of the NPP training unit, conducted interviews with managers and specialists of the nuclear power plant.
«The Kola nuclear power plant operates efficiently and safely, being an example for other electric power facilities, - highlighted head of the inspection Mikhail Zagvozkin. – The condition of the NPP site, marking of equipment, buildings, structures are assessed at a very high level. Among the strengths, our team noted the successful implementation of the program for the modernization of power units of the first stage with the repeated extension of service life, the effectiveness of technologies used at the liquid radioactive waste processing complex (LCW), the use of technologies for preliminary visualization of scenarios of personnel work in the controlled access zone, a machine vision complex based on modern neural networks, to improve the level of occupational safety».
The experts also noted the high qualification training of the NPP employees and the effective work to preserve the health of the staff.
Vladimir Matveev, Chief Engineer of the Kola NPP, thanked the team of the International Insurance Inspectorate for an objective assessment of the state of the nuclear power plant and noted the importance of further improving production based on the observations and recommendations of the expert commission.
The international commission, which worked at the Kola NPP from August 17 to 19, included representatives of insurance companies "AIG", "Northcourt" (Great Britain), "NIRA" (Luxembourg), JSC "Atomic Insurance Broker", JSC "SOGAZ " (Russia), the Russian National Reinsurance Company (JSC" RNPC"), "Special Management of FPS No. 72 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia" and JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom".
The result of the international insurance inspection will be a technical report with recommendations, which will be ready in four months.
