The friendly relations between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Tunisia made steady progress in 2013.
Political exchanges were further intensified. In March, Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki sent a letter of congratulation to President Xi Jinping on his assumption of office. Tunisian Prime Minister Ali Larayedh sent a letter of congratulation to Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang on his premiership. Tunisian Foreign Minister Othmane Jarandi sent a letter of congratulation to Foreign Minister Wang Yi on his assumption of office. In April, President Marzouki sent a letter of condolence to President Xi Jinping on the earthquake in Lushan, Sichuan Province. In June, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Political Consultative Conference of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Hong Yang visited Tunisia. In September, member of the Foreign Policy Advisory Committee of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Ji Peiding visited Tunisia.
Bilateral exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, culture and health made new progress. Two-way trade volume continued to grow. In May, Vice Minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission Ma Xiaowei visited Tunisia. In August, Vice Agricultural Minister Niu Dun visited Tunisia and the two sides signed the Plan Between the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tunisia on Cooperation and Exchanges in Fishery (2014-2015). In September, Minister to the Prime Minister in Charge of Economic Affairs Ridha Said and Minister of Industry Mahdi Jomaa attended the seventh Summer Davos in China. In October, the Chinese Embassy in Tunisia and the Tunisian Ministry of Culture jointly hosted the China Movie Week.
