US community solar projects specialist Summit Ridge Energy LLC on Tuesday said it has started constructing the first solar project in a 44-MW portfolio in Maine.
The portfolio, sold by Revision Energy, consists of 13 community solar projects that will operate under the Maine Net Energy Billing (NEB) programme.
The solar farms are expected to become operational between 2022 and 2023.
Summit Ridge will finance the projects through its funding platform with Osaka Gas USA. Revision Energy is developing and building the portfolio, while also being responsible for subscriptions. So far, school districts, municipalities, hospitals and local businesses have subscribed to take advantage of the costs savings the projects will generate over a period of 20 years.
