Ukraine's National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom may connect all 15 power units of nuclear power plants (NPPs) to the energy system in February 2022, according to Minister of Energy German Galushchenko.
'Today we are considering the possibility of connecting the 15th unit in February,' Galushchenko said at the international conference 'Nuclear Capabilities for the Country's Development”, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
The minister stressed that nuclear generation will ensure the smooth passage of the 2021/2022 heating season.
As reported, the Ministry of Energy expects that 14 nuclear power units out of 15 available in Ukraine will be in operation in the autumn-winter period.
As of November 18, 14 out of 15 power units were running at Ukrainian NPPs. It was the 80th day of the medium scheduled maintenance at power unit 2 of Zaporizhzhia NPP.
