In a post on Linkedin, James Lee Stancampiano, Head of Power Generation of Enel Group Chile, announced that the 33-MW Unit 3 of the Cerro Pabellon geothermal plant in Chile has produced its first kWh. The announcement was accompanied by a short video clip (reposted below) that showcases parts of the new facility.
This expansion has been in development since 2019 and adds significant generation capacity to the original 48 MW of the Cerro Pabellon geothermal power plant. We reported on the progress of the project according to the mid-year report of Enel Chile that stated a planned COD of 2021.
