TagEnergy has acquired 100% of the almost 100MW Lakeside battery storage project in North Yorkshire from RES.
The 99.9MW facility, which represents an investment by TagEnergy of close to £65m, is located at Drax and is due to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2022.
It should start operating in October 2023.
Lakeside is the fifth battery storage project that TagEnergy has secured in the UK, bringing its total portfolio to 270MW.
TagEnergy, which is part of the Jacques Veyrat-owned Impala group, entered the UK renewables market this year.
In September, it launched construction of the Hawkers Hill Energy Park battery storage facility alongside Tesla in Dorset, while in October it acquired RES’ Roaring Hill energy storage project in Fife.
In November, TagEnergy acquired a 60% stake in two 50MW battery storage projects near Luton and Abernethy respectively in a joint venture with Harmony Energy.
