The construction of the Portocem project will receive an investment of R4.2bn ($741.4mn), financed by US firm Ceiba Energy, and should reach an installed capacity of 1.57MW.
The Spanish Iberdrola subsidiary Neoenergia-owned Termopernambuco plant will be expanded, with a R50.58mn investment, reaching 550MW in capacity.
"The conclusion of deals with natural gas distributors, fertilizer factories, pipeline operator TAG and Petrobras, as well as the selection of the capacity tender winning thermoelectric projects, are landmarks in our new gas market development", Shell Energy Brasil chief executive Christian Iturri said.
