Brazilian onshore natural gas producer PetroReconcavo more than doubled production in December from the prior month on newly acquired operations in the Miranga and Remanso fields.
Gas production rose in December to 5,873 b/d of oil equivalent (boe/d), up by 106pc from November, driven by the introduction of 2,741 boe/d from from the Miranga field. PetroReconcavo took over 12 onshore fields in the Miranga cluster in Bahia state from Petrobras during the fourth quarter.
Gas production in the Potiguar field increased to 2,396 boe/d, up by 11pc from the previous month, while production in the Remanso field increased by 6.7pc, to 736 boe/d, as PetroReconcavo became the sole owner of the field's output.
PetroReconcavo is one of the few companies in the country with signed gas supply contracts, making it a major player in Brazil's newly opened gas market.
