At the first operational headquarters meeting this year, its participants presented the main results of the project implementation in 2021 and outlined their tasks for the near future.
Gennady Sakharov: "I am proud to announce that, by the end of 2021, despite the general recession in the global economy and all the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, we are working ahead of schedule. The key event of last year – the start of installing the reactor shaft equipment – allowed us to get closer to the next stage – delivering the reactor vessel to the site, which we expect in Q1 this year. This was possible due to the prompt deployment of construction at the MBIR site and the efficient work of our builders."
He also noted that important factors in adherence to the schedule were the construction consortium established under the auspices of the Association of Organizations of the Construction Complex of the Nuclear Industry (ACCNI) and led by the general contractor of the project – Joint Stock Company Institute Orgenergostroy, application of integrated remote monitoring tools using digital and unmanned technology (high-resolution satellite survey, UAV survey, and laser scanning); deployment of an industry-wide system for Total Cost Management Nuclear Construction – TCM NC.
At the headquarters' meeting, it was reported that work is underway under the Cooperation Agreement signed in 2021 between State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom and the Ulyanovsk Region on development of the modern social infrastructure for the MBIR construction project.
