Chinese and Turkish Contractors Build Largest PV Park in RO for Israeli Econergy

05 May 2022  by romania-insider.com
Turkish INTEC Energy Solutions and the Chinese CHINT Solar announced that they would work together to develop a 154 MWp photovoltaic plant, the largest in Romania, after signing an engineering, procurement and construction contract (EPC ) with the Israeli developer of renewable energy projects Econergy, Profit.ro reported.

Rătești PV park in Arges county, in the south of Romania, will cover 165 hectares and is expected to produce 124 GWh of electricity annually. It will reduce carbon emissions by approximately 160,000 tonnes each year.

Rătești Park is, at this moment, the largest photovoltaic park under construction in Romania, and it should be connected to the grid this year.

Originally owned by real estate developer Portland Trust, the project, located near the A1 highway, was bought by two Israeli developers: Econergy and Nofar Energy.

Hidroelectrica, the largest electricity producer in the country, reportedly intended to buy it as well.

Econergy is an international developer of renewable energy projects operating in Spain, Italy, Poland and Romania.

According to the company’s own data, the 19 projects in different stages of development in Romania sum up to a total capacity of 2,200 MW - some with a commissioning deadline this year.
