Athena Energy Holdings has commissioned a 26.15-megawatt (MW) rooftop solar project, which is considered as the largest in Vietnam.
The landmark project, known as the Shundao Rooftop Solar Project, is expected to produce an average of 34 million kilowatt-hour of energy annually.
It is estimated to offset some 33,898 tonnes of carbon emissions, which is equivalent to to at least 8,000 cars on the road per year for the next two decades.
“The successful delivery of the largest C&I rooftop solar project in Vietnam has given us a significant footprint in the region,” Tang Kin Fei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Metis, parent company of Athena Energy, said.
The project, which started in early 2022, was delivered ahead of its schedule. It consist of 47,554 solar panels across over 200,000 square metres of rooftop space.
Moreover, Athena Energy noted the project was financed through the responsAbility Investments AG, a Swiss sustainability impact fund.
