TEPCO Renewable Power, a subsidiary of Japanese utility Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), is teaming up with Flotation Energy to develop the offshore wind markets in Japan and Scotland.
Flotation Energy, headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland, will become part of the TEPCO group. This partnership marks TEPCOs first major venture into offshore wind markets in the UK and overseas.
According to TEPCO, the partnership will allow the company to accelerate its existing project pipeline and develop new opportunities around the world.
Masashi Nagasawa, TEPCO Renewable Power President said: “We are very pleased and heartened to partner with Flotation Energy, which shares our mission to deliver clean renewable energy…
“Flotation Energy’s experience and knowledge of the world’s biggest floating offshore wind development and their global network will vastly accelerate the development of our offshore wind business both domestically and internationally.”
Flotation Energy will use TEPCOs resources and experience to gain a stronger position in decarbonisation projects around the world.

The Flotation team is currently working on the Kincardine floating wind farm 15km off the coast of Aberdeen. The 50MW project is said to be the largest under development in the world, capable of powering nearly 35,000 homes in Scotland.
