The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) has signed a deal to support the ongoing development of a wave energy test site in South Korea, thus continuing a three-year collaboration between the two parties.
Specifically, EMEC has entered into an agreement with the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering – Wave Energy Test Site (KRISO-WETS), which is located on the western coast of Jeju Island.
So far, the two sides have worked together on test site design aspects, including electrical infrastructure, data acquisition and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, as well as on operational aspects such as environmental monitoring and consenting guidance, EMEC said.
Now, the European party will provide operational guidance concerning environmental impacts, metocean data, commercial guidance and third-party verification, as KRISO-WETS enters operational mode, the announcement says.
