Non-conventional renewables, which in Peru are solar, wind, bagasse and biogas sources, produced 245 GWh during the month, an increase of 4.8% on the year. Wind and solar power generated 143 GWh and 57 GWh, respectively. The ministry said that production from solar power plants decreased by 1% compared to May 2018.
Hydroelectricity production rose by 5.4% year-on-year to 2,917 GWh. Bagasse and biogas facilities registered a 39% production increase to 45 GWh.
The overall electricity production reached 4,860 GWh, up 4.3% year-on-year, in the national territory during May.
