LP Gas Price Increases for the First Time in 2023

The federal government published the maximum prices for LP gas for the second week of 2023.

The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) announced the prices applicable to Liquefied Petroleum (LP) gas for the week of January 8 to 14, 2023 for the 201 regions into which it divided the country, which will experience an increase compared to last week.

The prices reflect the new methodology applied by the regulator to cap the prices of LP gas to the general public throughout the national territory.

"The publication of the maximum applicable prices of LP gas, object of sale to the End User, is established in accordance with agreement A/024/2021," the regulator reported.

Agreement number A /024/2021 of the energy regulator that establishes the regulation of maximum prices for liquefied petroleum gas sold to the end user, in compliance with the Emergency Directive for the well-being of liquefied petroleum gas consumers, issued by the Ministry of Energy, in order to protect the interests of end users.

For next week, the maximum energy price in Mexico City for next week will be 10.14 pesos per liter and 18.67 pesos per kilo.

The most expensive price for energy is located in the municipalities of Loreto and Mulege in Baja California, where the maximum price reaches 23.11 pesos per kilo.

According to the list of maximum prices published by the CRE, in Mexico City the price increases from 18.62 to 18.67 pesos per kilogram with VAT.

In Tijuana the price increases from 18.84 to 18.95 pesos per kilogram.

While in Puebla the price rises from 18.76 to 18.96 pesos per kilogram with VAT.
