Greenko’s green molecule production unit, Greenko ZeroC, and Uniper signed a memorandum of understanding and Head of Term to deliver green ammonia to Europe from India.
Under the MOU they will negotiate on pricing, supply, and tenure structure for the supply and purchase agreement for 250,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually based on the Head of Terms.
Uniper will offtake green ammonia from Phase 1 of Greenko ZeroC’s ammonia production facility in Kakinada, they said in a joint statement.
The Kakinada project is a multi-phase green ammonia production and export facility that aims to produce one million tonnes of green ammonia capacity annually by 2027. The production of green ammonia is powered by 2.5 gigawatts of renewables and supported by the Pinnapuram Integrated Renewable Energy Storage Plant.
The project will also include the integration of a pumped storage plant to complement the intermittency and seasonability of renewables and achieve a high annual plant load factor of 85%, enabling the flexible and dispatchable green ammonia supply.
Uniper and Greenko also plan to work together on the deployment of flexible renewable electricity to other hydrogen products such as e-methanol and sustainable aviation fuels.
