The Spanish gas company Naturgy has released its 2022 results, posting a net profit of 1.6bn (+35% compared to 2021). The group’s gas supply reached 143 TWh in 2022 (+6%) and the company also traded 125 TWh of LNG (-12%). Gas sales in Spain declined by 15% to 164 TWh. Other large gas markets for the company includes Argentina (92 TWh, +7%), Mexico (47 TWh, -12%) and Brazil (45 TWh, -51%).
The group’s thermal and nuclear generation in Spain rose by 43% in 2022 to 24 TWh, thanks to a 56% surge in CCGT power generation. In 2022, Naturgy also produced 13.2 TWh of thermal power in Latin America (-5%), including 12.6 TWh in Mexico (-5%). On the renewable segment, power generation declined by 17% in Europe and the United States to 6.7 TWh and by 1.9% in Latin America to 2.1 TWh (lower wind power generation in Mexico and Chile).
