PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP), a unit of Indonesian utility PT PLN (Persero), has opened a call for expression of interest in multiple solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, both floating and land-based, as well as wind farms.
The projects are part of the Proyek Hijaunesia 2023 initiative launched in line with the government’s agenda to accelerate the energy transition into renewable energy development.
PLN IP is now inviting potential investors to submit their expression of interest in participating as equity partners in the Proyek Hijaunesia 2023 project no later than 16 March 2023.
Among other general criteria, for floating and land-based solar projects, potential investors should have experience in developing utility-scale solar PV power plants as an equity provider and as a lead developer which has already achieved commercial operation date within the last ten years, and having a capacity at a minimum of 50 MW single project capacity (worldwide) or 25 MW single project capacity (in Indonesia).
When it comes to other recent developments in Indonesia’s floating solar sector, it is worth noting that Chinese company Sungrow FPV was selected to supply floating systems for the country’s largest floating solar project to date.
The delivery of the systems for the 192MW Cirata floating solar project will begin in the first quarter of 2023
The ‘landmark project’ is currently the largest floating solar project with the deepest water depth, largest water level fluctuation, and highest underwater elevation difference (94 meters water depth, 18 meters water level fluctuation, and 50 meters underwater elevation difference), according to Sungrow FPV.
Indonesia is targeting 23% of its energy mix to come from renewables by 2025, and rise to 31% by 2030.
